THE INTER SCHOOL CULTURAL COMPETITIONS ORGANIZED BY RAMAKRISHNA MATH, OOTACAMUND. The District level Interschool cultural competitions organized by Ramakrishna Math Ooty to commemorate the concluding celebrations of 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago addresses, was hosted by Vivekananda School in their school campus on 29th November 2019. Overall, 620 students from 25 schools from Nilgiri District enrolled for this competition. The competitions were conducted for the students from grade V to X in two groups vis-à-vis “V to VII” and “VIII to X”. Following competitions were held
• ELOCUTION COMPETITION (with the topic the Patriots of India) (Both Tamil and English) • ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION (with the topic great Literary Personalities of Tamil Nadu) (Both Tamil and English) • DRAWING COMPETITION (A scene from the epic Ramayana) • CHANTING OF BHAGAVAD GITA SHLOKAS (Chapter –XII) • QUIZ (from the Epic Ramayana) • SPELLING BEE
Swami Raghaveshanandaji Maharaj, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Ootacamund and Mr. Raja Gopalan, Assistant Administrative Officer, Chennai, were the chief guests for this inaugural function. The events took place for a period of three hours in sixteen different halls. . The campus reverberated with the keen spirit of sportive competition among the students for all events. The competitions highlighted the effort taken by each school which was evident in the quality of their student’s presentations. The events concluded at 2-00 p.m. with the excitement for much awaited prize distribution ceremony. The Inter-School Prize Distribution was organized with great pomp and show. All the participants with their guide teachers, judges from different schools and students of Vivekananda School and parents were the spectators of this function. . The Chief Guest for the Prize distribution ceremony were Mr. Siva Subramaniam Samraj the Joint Director of Horticulture Research Centre, Ooty and Mr. Kartikeyan, the Superintendent of Post office, Nilgiri district. The Chief Guests were welcomed with the band troop. After introduction to the Jury members and being felicitated with a beautiful memento, the chief guests delivered their address. Students of Vivekananda School entertained the gathering with cultural dance programme after which all the students who had won the competitions were presented with their trophies, Prize winning certificates and a book on Vivekananda. The function was a grand success and concluded with the National Anthem.
